Who is Studio M, anyway? I’m jumping on today to give you a little backstory on the people behind Marketplace. It all started with a simple idea over 30 years ago. Sue Todd wanted a way to easily decorate her mailbox for the holidays. When she couldn’t find what she was looking for, she shared the idea with her husband Curt. Curt was heading into the kitchen for some ice one evening and had an “aha” moment. He noticed a flexible magnetic calendar attached to the freezer door. “I grabbed it and ran outside,” Curt remembers. “It was dark, 20 degrees, snowing, and I was wrapping a calendar around our mailbox in my slippers.” With just $20 and a unique vision, Sue and Curt designed the first magnetic mailbox cover - MailWraps®. The new company, then known as Magnet Works, eventually gained its first two employees – Curt’s mom and Sue’s mom. Eventually, the business outgrew Curt and Sue's basement... and six more buildings after that! Our passion for marrying innovative design with beautiful artwork has led us to create remarkable products. We enjoy solving problems in creative ways, and we have a unique approach to designing products. This blend of art, innovation, and quality is what made Studio M (and will make Marketplace) the destination for the art-inspired gardener and homeowner. Each product created on Marketplace will be brought to life by our team here in St. Louis, MO. This means we'll be able to respond quickly to what you’re designing, turn it around in a matter of days, and get it out the door to your customers. But having the opportunity to make product in the U.S. means so much more to us than quick turnaround times.
